When exploring the busy city of San Jose we decided to gain some knowledge about the history of Costa Rica. We entered el Museo de Oro Precolombiano located underneath La Plaza de Cultura, managed by el Banco Central. The museum has many Precolombian Gold ancient artifacts dating back to the A.D.s. In Costa Rica gold was considered a symbol of authority and the items are testament to the craftmanship of the Pre-Columbian period. I was absolutely mesmerized by the incredible gold pieces and the beauty and craftsmanship that these people had. Not to mention the culture and religious beliefs contained in their art. The exhibit was fairly easy to follow and informative. Great way to spend a windy and rainy day besides all of the food.
